Understanding the Structure of the Global Jewellery Ecosystem

The global jewellery ecosystem is a complex network of interconnected systems that spans multiple regions, industries and cultural institutions.

At its foundation are gemstone origins, where natural resources are extracted and enter global supply chains. These materials are then transferred to cutting centres, where technical expertise transforms rough stones into finished gemstones.

From there, gemstones move into jewellery manufacturing, where craftsmanship and design define their final form. High jewellery maisons and luxury houses play a key role in shaping how these pieces are positioned within the luxury market.

Beyond production, cultural institutions and exhibitions influence how jewellery is perceived, collected and understood within a broader historical and cultural context.

Understanding how these components interact provides a clearer view of how the global jewellery ecosystem functions as an integrated system rather than isolated segments.
